Violets Are Blue
Help Us Save Paaru
This Valentine's Day, give the gift of conservation for red panda Paaru and her two cubs with a symbolic adoption.
Paaru and her two cubs live in a Community Forest in Eastern Nepal. Her forest is an important corridor that connects protected red panda habitat in Nepal to Singalila National Park in India. We have identified her forest as a population bottleneck area for red pandas.
A population bottleneck or genetic bottleneck is a sharp reduction in the size of a population due to environmental events or human activities.
Paaru's forest is being degraded by unsustainable livestock grazing practices and fuelwood and timber collection by local people.
